How to play
Explore the page
The mini page works like a normal website. Type, click, and try things — exploring never costs an attempt.
Inspect for clues
Turn on Inspect for a magnifier that reveals alt text, accessible names, and labels. Press it again to put it away.
Select your answer
Switch to Select answer, then click any element you suspect. Change your mind as often as you like.
Submit your guess
Once you pick an element, Select answer becomes Submit guess — the only thing that uses an attempt. You get three.

The scenario toolbar
Above every scenario sits a toolbar: Inspect · Select answer. With neither turned on the page behaves normally. After you pick an element, Select answer becomes Submit guess — the only control that ever uses an attempt.
Turn on Inspect and a magnifying glass appears: it follows your pointer on a laptop and is dragged on a phone. No mouse? While a tool is on, press Tab to move between elements — focusing reveals the information, and Enter chooses your answer in Select mode.
- Images reveal Alt text
- Links reveal their Accessible name
- Icon buttons reveal their Accessible name
- Form fields reveal their Accessible label
Missing information shows as None — often a clue. Inspecting never uses an attempt, and the timer starts with your first interaction.
Created by OneWeb
OneWeb’s mission is to build a more inclusive web for everyone, everywhere. OneWeb creates free tools and resources that help people learn, act, and drive meaningful change. SPOTLE is an independent product inspired by that mission: each daily puzzle turns one real accessibility barrier — missing alt text, unlabeled fields, low contrast, missing captions — into something you can spot, understand, and repair.
Accessibility of SPOTLE itself
SPOTLE aims to meet WCAG 2.2 AA everywhere except the single, intentional teaching defect confined inside each day’s scenario. The shell around it — navigation, timer, attempts, results — always provides text and symbols in addition to color, full keyboard operation, and visible focus. If you find a barrier we did not put there on purpose, we want to fix it.
